Im Surprised: Higher intelligence associated with liberalism, atheism
A study published in the March 2010 issue of the scientific journal "Social Psychology Quarterly" reports that intelligent people are significantly more likely to be social liberals and atheists. The report in a nutshell explains that those with higher intelligence are able to actually think and reason which leads them to logical conclusions.
Yes, they basically have stated that being an atheist and a social liberal is logical. In terms of being liberal they have said "General intelligence, the ability to think and reason, endowed our ancestors with advantages in solving evolutionarily novel problems for which they did not have innate solutions...as a result, more intelligent people are more likely to recognize and understand such novel entities and situations than less intelligent people, and some of these entities and situations are preferences, values, and lifestyles."
When it comes to religion, the paper basically argues that people use to need religion to explain the world around us. That is that it was innate in us as a people to believe in religion, that is it appealed to us because it answered so many questions (poorly of course, but a poor answer is better than no answer, right?). They conclude that "So, more intelligent children are more likely to grow up to go against their natural evolutionary tendency to believe in God, and they become atheists."

I see one popular site on discussions on atheism and I see of course atheists but there also seems to be dominated by liberals. I'm a atheist myself but not a liberal or a conservative. So although atheists support the freedom of religion which is a personal freedom along with liberals that also support other personal freedoms. That's where it stops with them. They don't have a clue on why it's wrong to compromise financial and property freedom and that's why I'm a libertarian, I believe in freedom without bound. Anything else is just being a hypocrite when it comes to freedom.
